Material properties are contained in a database that is accessed by each
estimate file. The estimator enters the material name or selects it
from a dialog box (shown in the screenshot below). The properties
associated with the material, e.g. unit weight and surface area, are
automatically retrieved from the Parts Database and entered into the
appropriate columns on the Material Sheet. The estimator supplies
additional required information such as quantity, length and labor.
From this data, weight, cost and labor totals are calculated and
transferred to the Cost Recap Sheet for final pricing. We'll cover
this in more detail in the Cost Recapping tutorial. |
